TLS Tips for Stress Awareness Month

Did you know that April is National Stress Awareness Month? Nowadays, more and more attention goes to stress management and its impact on health as research and studies continue to show that chronic stress leads to illness, even death!  It is important to know how to take a step back and relax in order to prevent prolonged stress from affecting our health.

Avoiding all stress is impossible since it can be caused by everything from work to family, even the foods we eat.  But, that doesn’t mean you’re stuck in a harmful stress cycle! Below are a few tips to help you reduce stress + improve your overall wellness:

 

Exercise

Exercise helps improve your mood by increasing the release of endorphins into the bloodstream. These don’t have to be all-out, high-intensity workouts though! Exercises such as yoga, Taichi or even walking helps to get those happy chemicals flowing².

Get Nutritious

A healthy and nutritious meal is important for managing stress and overall health. While that decadent donut may seem like a stress-relieving comfort food, the quick sugar + carbs actually place more stress on your body! Skip the quick fix + emphasize proper nutrition instead to fuel yourself properly and repair some of the damage stress causes to your body².

Know Your stressors

With so much  happening on our day to day lives, it can be difficult to determine what exactly is causing you stress. Taking a moment to breathe and focus will help you find and acknowledge the root cause, as well as find ways to tackle it! Prevention is always a better way than cure³.

Doing What You Love

This one’s easy; you just feel less stressed when you’re doing something you enjoy! Find an interest and make time for it, even if it’s just a 15 minute walk, tucking away to read a good book, or getting crafty at home!

壓力關注月

你知不知道4月份是壓力關注月?現在越來越多人關注壓力管理和壓力對健康造成的影響。研究和報告都顯示,壓力過大可能會引致疾病,甚至是突然死亡。壓力都無可避免的,周邊環境,工作及家庭,甚至是我們進食的食物斬伯都會帶來壓力。

所以知道如何舒壓和放鬆都是非常重要的,以防止長期壓力帶來的健康影響。

 

以下是一些幫助你減輕壓力的提示:

 

1)運動。運動能增加釋放安多酚到血液中,有助改善情緒。運動,如瑜伽,太極甚至步行都可以有助改善情緒²。

 

2)好營養。健康和營養的飲食對你的壓力健康很重要。不健康的食物會對身體帶來壓力,所以要獲得足夠和優質的營養素來修復因壓力而導致的身體傷害²。

 

3)認識你的壓力。試找出是什麼原因讓你感到緊張受壓,並找出導致壓力增加的根源原因及解決問題的方法。預防始終勝於治療³。

 

4)做你喜歡的事情。當你做一些你喜歡的事時,你會感到壓力減少。找出你的興趣並預留時間去做,即使步行,閱讀或玩遊戲15分鐘也有幫助。
